Bright-coloured school furniture is the main source of pollution in student apartments

A few days ago, the national quality inspection department carried out air quality tests on 20 families'children's rooms. The results showed that the rate of formaldehyde exceeding the standard was over 80%, including 30% of benzene series, 45% of total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), and the source of pollution was 8 school furniture.

In the process of testing, it was found that the decoration of many families was not complicated, but the formaldehyde content of each house exceeded the standard in the detection of harmful substances such as formaldehyde, benzol, xylene and TVOC. Among them, the parents'bedroom is only a trace of excess, while the children's room formaldehyde, TVOC seriously exceed the standard. It is understood that these families are quite similar. They are all old furniture used in parents'rooms, but children's houses have purchased brand-new school furniture, mostly board-style and brightly colored school furniture.

The main source of children's room pollution is classroom furniture, the crux of which is panel classroom furniture, surface paint and so on. Parents need to pay attention to the fact that formaldehyde, benzene and other excessive and low levels will also have an impact on children's health, especially children under 5 years of age. Formaldehyde emission pollution is the main reason for the increase of asthma in children under 5 years old. Long-term exposure to low-dose formaldehyde can cause chronic respiratory diseases and eye diseases. If it is an expectant mother during pregnancy, it may lead to pregnancy syndrome, neonatal malformation, mental depression and other diseases.

Expert analysis shows that most of the board school furniture materials on the market are medium density board and particleboard, and only some well-known school furniture brands use integrated wood such as pine. Because the use of adhesives in MDB and particleboard is very large, the health problems of harmful substances such as formaldehyde in school furniture exceed the standard are more serious than other furniture.
